System Requirement: Visual Studio 2005

I've been reading the SolutionKitInstall.doc and noticed that there is a requirement for Visual Studio 2005 on the server.

Why is this necessary and is there a workaround for this?

Also, can I suggest providing a link to the "AJAX extensions" install. I'm guessing that is the http://ajax.asp.net/ download of ASP .NET AJAX 1.0 http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=ca9d90fa-e8c9-42e3-aa19-08e2c027f5d6&displaylang=en ?

Thanks again for your efforts on this.

Jeremy,

The AJAX extensions are necessary because AJAX features have been built into the two applications ( Solution Configuration, and Starter Kit ). If you are interested in just the back end components then the extensions are not necessary.

The link you have is correct.

Jeremy,

The application also uses the AJAX Control Toolkit for some of the more advanced features such as animation.
The download for that can be found at http://www.codeplex.com/AtlasControlToolkit/Release/ProjectReleases.aspx?ReleaseId=1425

Thanks,
Greg

I am interested in Jeremy's first question for which I have not seen an answer!

I tried installing WSS on my Vista machine just in the off chance it would work! Who am I kidding? :) It would be nice to have access to those SharePoint references without needing to use a server!

Any updates on this?

Thanks,
Callistus
