Hi Ewalker,
I'm wondering if the site was really created. Please verify by running: stsadm -o enumsites -url http://<your servername>

thanks,
Lisa

Ewalker,

This likely has to do with WSSServices call to ProvisionWebSite. There's a statement that updates your DNS server or Hostfile with a hardcoded IP address. You need to change this to you machines IP address.

// first create the dns entry
hostingToolsWS.CreateDNS(websiteStripped, "192.168.150.1"); // replace "192.168.150.1" with your server's IP address

Make sure you also change the "http://moss" below:
// provision the main site
hostingToolsWS.CreateNewSiteNewSQLOwner(website, "", "", homesiteTemplate, user.UserName, "", user.UserName, "pass@word1", "color", "red", user.Email, applicationName, "http://moss", "aspnetsqlmembershipprovider", 1033);

I'm not sure about the impact of the password "pass@word1. I'll respond when I know more.

Thanks,
JA

Well....making some progress.
Here's what it says when I run stsadm

<Sites Count="4">
<Site Url="http://wss1" Owner="WSS1\administrator" ContentDatabase="WSS_Conten
t" StorageUsedMB="0.7" StorageWarningMB="0" StorageMaxMB="0" />
<Site Url="http://intranet.user1.com" Owner="aspnetsqlmembershipprovider:user1
" ContentDatabase="WSS_Content" StorageUsedMB="0.8" StorageWarningMB="0" Storage
MaxMB="0" />
<Site Url="http://www.user1.com" Owner="aspnetsqlmembershipprovider:user1" Con
tentDatabase="WSS_Content" StorageUsedMB="0.4" StorageWarningMB="0" StorageMaxMB
="0" />
<Site Url="http://www.wss1.com" Owner="aspnetsqlmembershipprovider:jonathan as
bury" ContentDatabase="WSS_Content" StorageUsedMB="0.2" StorageWarningMB="0" Sto
rageMaxMB="0" />
</Sites>

Therefore, it looks like the sites are being created. However, when I try to access them I get a "File Not Found." message. Any suggestions?

I can't access any sites from the Default Website. What might be configured incorrectly?
Here's the URL redirect when trying to lauch a site in case it helps:

http://intranet.user1.com/_layouts/login.aspx?ReturnUrl=%2fwiki

If I try pulling this up login.aspx using IIS Manager it states "Unknown Error".

Perhaps there's an IIS security issue? I have not changed its configurations other than when installing the SolutionKit.msi and updating the web config.

Hi Jonathan,

Please check the host file in c:\Windows\system32\drivers\etc. Whenever a new site is provisioned the DNS is entered in the host file. If it's in there, you should be able to browse to http://www.wss1.com.
